| Eurotherm’s SV Series
of solid state relays is a rugged single phase Solid State Relay with ratings
from 10 to 75 amps @ 300 VAC and 50 to 75 amps @ 600 VAC. The SV Series
accepts an AC or DC logic control input and provides precise zero cross
fired on-off control in a panel mounted package.
Superior Internal Snubber Circuit
The SV Series attenuates most industrial
noise for higher reliability and less down time. By having higher a Dv/Dt
and higher “blocking voltage” ratings the SV model is more rugged than
the competition. Most relays have a 600 VAC blocking voltage. Using an
external MOV (at 700 volts) offers no protection to most solid state relays,
which will fail when subjected to voltage spikes. The SV model is 33% better
(800 volts) so an external MOV is well below the range of the SSR.

Superior DC Input Circuit
By using a new, faster responding
input circuit, the SV can survive high energy, non-repetitive power line
surges and then continue operating normally. The competition is typically
damaged by the surge ultimately causing a machine shutdown. A new “Current
Limited” DC input (4-32 Vdc) allows a wider selection of control devices
and simplifies integration with PLC™, PC, or other externally powered circuits.
Superior AC Input Circuit
By improving the leakage immunity
of the input circuit, “triac” instruments that use a 0.022 microfared snubber
no longer require an external burden resistor across the input circuit,
thus reducing cost and installation time. Most AC activated relays have
a turn-on and turn-off delay built in. When used as high-speed pulsing
control (such as with temperature controllers), other SSR’s response can
be irregular for the first 16% and last 16% of the duty cycle. This error
may impact start up control, overshoot control, and other parts of the
control operation. The new SV relays provide linear response so you receive
predictable control from 1-100% output in your application.
Applications
The SV Series provides an effective
replacement for electromechanical contactors. The fast switching reduces
the thermal cycling of the heating elements resulting in longer element
life. There are no mechanical contacts to wear out and so maintenance costs
and downtime are reduced. |
